Happy February! After a month that felt longer than most – we’ve reached the shortest of all those on the calendar. And while I’m heartened by those brighter evenings I’m aware that I’m in for some action-packed days!

That quote above seemed like the perfect way to frame my focus, as do the three shots I’ve chosen for the banner. The first (top left with Industry Leader, Engel & Völkers Broker Donna Harding) was captured following my course to become a Senior Real Estate Specialist. Having the “SRS” designation means I’m now fully trained to deliver the best service for people aged 55+. I’m always looking for ways to expand my knowledge base and to ensure I have the Happiest Clients. I’ve been building my creative skills too! The picture of all us smiling ‘artists’ was taken during a wonderful POP UP PAIL PARTY. It was a terrific opportunity to learn some great techniques, have fun with friends and help support our amazing Chester Art Centre. For details on how you can host your own PAIL PARTY click here. Now while there’s no fear of me becoming an artist full-time I do know there’ll be more painting in my future (See details on that below.) As for that picture of me on the right – that was taken this past summer – after having been outfitted for my TV debut. Indeed, another skill I’ve been working on – “Show Host” – is set to premiere this month!

Tune in to A&E Saturday, February 8th for Oceanfront Property Hunt. Filmed this past summer, I tour clients Naana and Darren through lovely homes in Peggy’s Cove, Prospect Bay, West Dover, and Seabright. I have to tell you, after spending so many years behind the scenes on feature films and television productions it sure was a treat to step in front of the camera for this show. It was an honour to have been chosen to showcase properties here on Nova Scotia’s South Shore and I so hope to do it again soon. Big thanks to the team at Ocean Entertainment for the opportunity and to the ladies at Suttles & Seawinds in Mahone Bay for the wonderful wardrobe! Another thing I’ve learned is that Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl is bigger than ever this year! Designed to celebrate all there is to see and do here on the South Shore, the festival runs the entire month of February with something to Sip, Savour, Explore and Enjoy every single day! I come from a long line of lobster lovers so anytime we can celebrate that incredible crustacean is bound to be delightful. As noted above, I’ve got plenty of painting on my “To Do” list for February! House painting that is. Along with a ton of other tasks that come with a major renovation. If you follow me on Instagram then you know things are well underway. Having removed all the walls that once separated the kitchen, dining room and living room – we’re faced with finding the perfect flooring to run throughout the entire space. And after completely gutting the kitchen – we’ve been busy landing on a look for our open-concept space. Weigh in if you will – click here to vote on your choice for floors and here to pick your favourite take on our cabinets. I’ve sure been learning a lot with this project – from the new standards in wiring to what it takes to replace a stone fireplace to the advancements made in engineered laminate floors to the seemingly endless array of tile choices. But, as with any renovation – the biggest lesson is patience. Keep your fingers crossed – please!
